Jared was involved with a track meet for 4th - 8th graders last weekend. He had so much fun. He did 5 events. A 100 m dash, a 200 m dash, a 400 m run, the 800 m run, and was the beginning leg of a 4 x 100 m. relay.
Most of the pictures are video of him running. But here are a couple of shots.
(the kid next to him was in the 4th - 6th grade division and had spikes, so obviously our little amatuer took 2nd to that boy)
They were selling track t-shirts and had drawings. He won a $5 gift card to Subway (he hates Subway). But he really wanted a sweat shirt like Michael's so even though it was a bit $$$ he got one. It was great to see my two boys bonding over running. Michael was giving Jared pointers and even though he didn't get to see him run (timberline staff meeting) he stopped by the track after we had gone home and the coaches said his brother did really good. (Michael had a disappointing region meet - he would have been able to go to state in the 4 x 400 m relay except he got the team DQed by receiving his handoff out of the handoff zone, so that's been weighing heavily on him - they need to teach that rule) Anyway, Jared received a gold medal for the relay he was in. He got 2nd places in the 200 m and the 800 m (to the kid I told you about), and he received a 3rd place in the 400 m. He had a lot of fun and he's hoping the track team does this again next year for their fundraiser.
